Currently, Duke University is conducting cord blood stem cell research
“the first treatment aimed
treating the actual cause of cerebral palsy.”
The theory of stem cell treatment in children with cerebral palsy is that stem cells introduced into the blood stream will travel throughout the body, detecting and restoring damaged cells and tissue. They can also stimulate existing healthy cells and tissue to perform
a higher rate of function, thus boosting the body’s natural repair mechanisms. The adaptive stem cells will stay in the body and continue locating and repairing whatever damage they encounter.
The medical and scientific communities have very high hopes for stem cell therapy and it is worth paying close attention to the advancements and laws regarding it.
